No.4（2001）30.Women's jackets that accommodate wet cleaning

We report the results of our study, wherein we examined finishing procedures following wet cleaning of women's jackets made of wool fabric usually labeled "Dry Clean Only". Drying the fabric, then pressing with an electric steam iron set to a medium surface temperature (150℃), resulted in good wrinkle removal and workability. The finishing procedure could be rendered more efficient through a motion and time study. A checkpoint for higher efficiency would be to perform the procedure in such an orderly manner that already finished parts of the jacket are not wrinkled while other parts are being finished. Another checkpoint would be to avoid back-and-forth motions of the garment, and repetition of procedures. Meanwhile, in terms of jacket production, the choice of face fabric should be of one with a dimensional change of no greater than 2% after 15 repetitions of wet cleaning. Sewing specifications should be such that allow easier finishing.
