No.3(2000)18.Removal method of boron from plating rinse wastewater
Kunihiko HIGASHI, Kenji OTSUKA
In the water pollution control law, it is predicted that the gulation value of boron is less than 10mg/L. The removal condition of boron from nickel plating rinse wastewater was then studied by a coprecipitation method with the addition of magnesium chloride. Magnesium chloride solution containing 30-60folds of magnesium ion of boron was added into nickel plating rinse water containing more than 1g/L of nickel ion. The solution was adjusted to pH 10-10.5 with sodium hydroxide solution, and reacted by 10 minutes` stirring. The boron in the solution was precipitated together with products of magnesium and nickel.
By use of the present procedure, it was found that less than 150mg/L of boron in the nickel plating rinse wastewater could be removed under the boron regulation value to less than 10mg/L.
